THE DERBY AND DERBYSHIRE WAR MEMORIALS PROJECT Proudly sponsored by the Midlands (East) Branch of the Western Front Association
This project was founded by Chris Preston and Richard Clarke in 2004 to record and preserve as many War Memorials in the county of Derbyshire as possible, not only to preserve the memorials themselves for posterity, but also to record the fascinating stories behind the names on those memorials. We are also working closely with the Imperial War Museum, and anything we record is being contributed to the National Inventory of War Memorials (www.ukniwm.org.uk)
We are always willing to hear about any war memorials or the stories of any servicemen from Derbyshire, if you know the location of a war memorial or if one of your Derbyshire relatives served in any conflict and you'd like to tell us more, please contact us (derbyshirewarmemorials@gmail.com)
Here you will find a small selection of some of the war memorials we have photographed in the county. We are very happy to share any photographs we have of war memorials, war graves and family headstones that we have obtained from around the county. Please drop us an email at the above address, and we will e-mail you a high resolution copy in return free of charge.
